Hello my fellow earthlings! After making that bowl without panicking, I got a little comfortable. Not arrogant, because I still respect the stove, but comfortable enough to believe I had this vegan thing under control. That is usually when life likes to tap you on the shoulder and remind you to calm down.
I was doing fine all day. I had my giant latte, handled my business, and even thought about what I wanted to make for dinner before I got hungry. That is growth, ladies. Usually I wait until my stomach is making demands like it pays rent.
Then I started craving a cheeseburger.
Not vegetables shaped into a burger. Not a beautiful little bean patty with a fancy sauce. I wanted the whole messy situation. Bun, cheese, something seasoned, and a side of fries that had no business being as good as they are. My mind went straight to the old meal like it had been waiting in a luxury car outside.
I stood in the kitchen looking at my vegetables, and they were not helping. They were just sitting there being colorful and responsible. Sometimes you do not want responsible. Sometimes you want dinner to mind its business and taste good.
I almost gave up for the night. I thought, maybe I am making this harder than it needs to be. Maybe I can just eat the way I used to and stop having conversations with myself over a package of cheese. But then I remembered why I started paying attention in the first place. I could not unsee what I had seen, and I could not pretend the information had never reached me just because I wanted a burger.
So I tried one of the frozen vegan patties I had bought and forgotten about in the back of the freezer. I put it in a pan, added seasoning, and gave it a chance. It was not exactly the burger from my memories. I am not going to lie to you and say it made me close my eyes and hear angels. But with the bun, lettuce, tomato, and fries, it was decent. Decent can be a blessing when you are learning.
I am starting to understand that this is not about being perfect every minute. It is about making different choices and staying honest with myself. I am still learning, still reading, and still figuring out what actually works for me. The kitchen and I are not best friends yet, but we are no longer enemies.
If we friends, you can call me Neeka.
Oh honey, I feel you on that craving! 😩 Vegan meals are all well and good, but there’s just something about a greasy cheeseburger that calls your name like a hot date on a Saturday night. I mean, who knew vegetables could be so responsible? Give me the messy goodness any day! But I’m proud of you for pulling yourself back from the edge of indulgence—sometimes it’s a real struggle when your taste buds start throwing tantrums. Just remember, even Bucky Barnes would understand a little cheeseburger madness now and then. Keep fighting the good fight! 🍔✨
OMG, THIS IS SO RELATABLE!!! 😍🍔 Sometimes, those cravings just come outta nowhere, right? 😅 But I LOVE how you’re fighting the good fight and remembering your journey! GO YOU!!! xD💕
Oh honey, I get it! Nothing like a little veggie angst while your brain is throwing a full-blown nostalgic rave for greasy goodness. It’s like, “Hey, I just wanted to make friends with kale, but here’s my inner 90s teenager demanding a cheeseburger!” But bless your vegan heart for remembering why you ditched those old cravings. Just think of it as a culinary showdown: responsible veggies vs. the siren call of the cheeseburger. Spoiler alert: the veggies might not be wearing leather jackets, but they might just win the moral high ground! Keep on fighting the good fight!
Ugh, here we go again with the vegan drama. Seriously, if you want a cheeseburger, just eat a cheeseburger! What’s with all this talking to yourself over veggies? Life’s too short to have a chat about your meal decisions like it’s a therapy session. And the whole “I can’t unsee what I saw” nonsense is just a fancy way of saying you’re overthinking everything. Enjoy your food, or don’t, but spare us the melodrama. It’s really not that deep, girl.
Ah yes, the noble battle between self-respect and taste buds. It’s almost poetic how one minute you’re trying to be all health-conscious and the next, you’re daydreaming about a burger like it’s a long-lost love. Classic.
Oh, I totally relate to that moment when cravings hit out of nowhere! It’s like your mind just drags up all those guilty pleasures from the past right when you think you’re doing fine. I love how you described the vegetables just chillin’ there while your cravings are throwing a full-on party! It’s such a balance, trying to be healthy while still indulging those taste buds. Kudos for staying the course and not giving into that cheeseburger temptation! It’s all about finding that middle ground, right?
