I Finally Found My Balance

Hello my fellow earthlings! After that cheeseburger craving came in with an attitude, I had to sit down and have a conversation with myself. Not out loud, because Mo was already running around the house being silly and I did not need him thinking Mama had finally lost it. But I had to be honest.

I wanted a real cheeseburger. The kind with the soft bun, the melted cheese, the toppings, and enough grease to make you question your choices afterward. I was not craving a salad wearing a disguise. I was craving what I was craving.

So I went to the grocery store and bought a vegan burger. I also bought dairy-free cheese, because apparently I am a woman who enjoys giving herself challenges. I cooked that little patty in a pan, put it on a bun with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and ketchup, then placed the cheese on top and waited for it to act right.

It did not taste exactly like a cheeseburger. I am not going to lie to you just because the package made big promises. But it was good. It was filling, it had flavor, and it stopped my stomach from sending angry letters to management. That was enough for me.

I realized I have been treating this like I needed to become perfect overnight. I thought every meal had to prove something. Every label had to be understood immediately. Every craving had to be defeated like it was my enemy. Girl, please. I am teaching myself. That means I am allowed to learn slowly, mess up, try again, and discover what actually works for me.

I am not going to pretend I have every answer now. I still have questions, and I still have a lot to learn. But I know what I saw changed the way I look at food, and I cannot unsee it. I also know I can make choices with more care than I used to.

So this is where I am ending this little food adventure for now. Not perfect. Not panicking. Just paying attention and doing my best, one meal at a time.

If we friends, you can call me Neeka.

  1. Ugh, I feel you! Cravings can be such little gremlins, right? 😂 Honestly, there’s something about a big, juicy cheeseburger that just makes my heart flutter, but I love how you embraced the journey instead of the pressure! That vegan burger may not have been the real deal, but you still found something that worked for you, and that’s what matters! Just don’t let anyone tell you that a salad can substitute for that cheeseburger goodness. Life’s too short for boring food, girl! Keep slaying your way through the kitchen, one imperfect meal at a time! 🍔✨

  2. Ah yes, the classic journey of self-discovery masked as a culinary experiment. Nothing screams personal growth like a vegan burger that’s clearly a cry for help pretending to be a cheeseburger. Bravo.

  3. Oh my gosh, I love this! Your cheeseburger journey sounds like something straight out of a sitcom — like an episode of “Buffy” where she tries to navigate normal teenage cravings while saving the world! Seriously, I can totally relate to that feeling of wanting to indulge without it turning into a full-on apocalypse. And let’s be real, vegan cheese is basically the Amara of the food world: it shows up, looks kinda good, but you’re always wondering if it’s going to cause you more trouble than it’s worth!

Also, I love that you’re giving yourself grace. It’s like you’re on a slow burn character arc, learning to accept flaws and embrace the journey instead of trying to slay it all at once. We don’t need to rush to become the perfect version of ourselves—there’s no fun in that! You’ve got to embrace those “learning moments” like they’re a plot twist. Who knows? The next vegan creation could be the one that blows your mind like a surprise demon reveal!

Keep rocking it, and remember: every good hero has to stumble before they can stand tall and look fabulous while defeating their cravings!

  4. Oh honey, I feel you! Who needs a perfect cheeseburger when you’ve got a vibrant little vegan number that says, “Hey, I’m still fabulous!”? It’s like putting a vintage 90s vibe on a 1940s dress—it’s all about making it work for YOU. I mean, sometimes a girl’s gotta have a chat with herself so Mo doesn’t think she’s completely bonkers. And here’s a tip: if you ever want that “real” cheeseburger vibe, just slap on a bit of extra ketchup and a few crunchy pickles—voilà! You’re living your best life, one experimental patty at a time. Keep that balance, you gorgeous Earthling! 🍔✨

  5. Ugh, here we go again with the vegan nonsense. Seriously, why would you choose a fake burger when the real deal exists? A cheeseburger is meant to be juicy and satisfying, not some sad imitation with “dairy-free” whatever. You might think you’re on some enlightened path, but honestly, you’re just denying yourself the good stuff. Trying to convince yourself that processed plant junk is anything close to a real burger is just plain delusional. Get a grip, lady! When are people gonna learn that food is supposed to be enjoyed, not turned into some yoga retreat?

  6. OMG, THIS IS SO RELATABLE!!! 😂💖 I love how you embraced your cravings and turned it into a fun challenge! You’re doing AMAZING, and your journey sounds so inspiring! Keep it up! xDD 🎉✨

  7. I absolutely love this journey you’re on! It’s so relatable to feel that pull between craving something indulgent and trying to stick to healthier choices. The way you described that vegan burger experience really resonated with me; it’s all about finding what works for you without the pressure of perfection. I totally agree that allowing ourselves to learn and adapt along the way makes the process so much more enjoyable. Plus, those cheeseburger cravings aren’t easy to ignore! Thanks for sharing such an honest perspective!
